FOXBOROUGH, Mass., July 11 – Viant (formerly MedPlast, LLC) announced today that it has expanded its leadership team following the company’s recent acquisition of Integer Holding Corporation’s Advanced Surgical and Orthopedics business. The company has recruited former Medtronic executive Sean Crowley to chief operating officer and former Integer executive Declan Smyth to group president, Advanced Surgical & Orthopedics (AS&O).
Mr. Crowley brings to Viant more than 20 years of global operations and supply chain experience. He most recently served as vice president of global operations for Medtronic’s Minimally Invasive Therapies Group, where he led supply chain, engineering and manufacturing operations supporting $7.5 billion of revenue and 29 manufacturing facilities. He previously held leadership positions for Covidien (acquired by Medtronic) after joining the company in 2005. Prior to Covidien, Mr. Crowley worked in manufacturing and operational excellence for Xerox Corporation and served as an officer in the United States Army.
Mr. Smyth joins Viant from Integer where he spent more than 15 years in executive leadership, commercial, operations and engineering management roles. He has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry and 30 years of operations experience. Mr. Smyth was appointed president of Integer’s AS&O business in 2015 and led the integration of four business categories. In his new role with Viant, Mr. Smyth will be responsible for driving growth for the company’s AS&O business, as well as supporting integration efforts. Prior to joining Integer, Mr. Smyth was appointed to increasing roles of responsibility at Accellent Inc. and Lake Region Medical, including president of the Advanced Surgical business.
“I am very excited about these newest additions to our management team,” said Brian King, chief executive officer, Viant. “With our recent acquisition of Integer’s AS&O business, Viant has doubled in size and significantly expanded our capabilities and offerings. Sean and Declan bring to our team a great mix of industry expertise and experience that will contribute significantly to our goal of being the provider of choice to the world’s leading medical device OEMs.”
