Senior Cost Accountant


Working closely with Plant Directors and the Assistant Controller, this individual will have responsibility for ensuring that the company’s inventory and cost of sales is accounted for accurately and timely in this fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ensure proper costing of inventory in this blended standard/lean costing environment
  • Conducts regular,testing to verify the accuracy of system standards
  • Records and reviews cost calculations with management
  • Monitors material cost variances to standards during month-end close to ensure the accuracy of financial statements
  • Reconciles and researches variance issues, determines causes and coordinates/drives corrections
  • Perform month-end close responsibilities accurately and timely as assigned and in compliance with internal controls
  • Provide frequent and timely support to various business partners throughout the organization
  • Create and manage complex spreadsheets of inventory data
  • Monthly inventory balancing across various systems and locations
  • Prepare root cause analysis for deficiencies identified
  • Preparation and analysis of Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Participation in physical inventories (prepare systems, assist counts, conduct reconciliation)
  • Provide information as needed for Internal/External audit purposes
  • Documentation of policies and procedures
  • Perform other projects as assigned
  • Standardize and streamline process efficiencies
  • Ensure continuous Improvement in reporting and analytics


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Masters preferred; CMA preferred
  • Previous experience in a large manufacturing environment utilizing Oracle ERP system preferred
  • Previous experience in a Cost Accounting role required
  • Approximately 3-5 years relevant experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to details and good organizational skills
  • Spreadsheet modeling skills
  • Proven Advanced MS Excel required

The ideal candidate will also possess a proactive work ethic including the ability and desire to take ownership of projects when identified. The candidate will have to be able to adjust to changing priorities and schedule hours, to adapt to the business needs.
