Production Operator (All Shifts)


Under the director of the area Supervisor/Team Leader, the Production Operator is responsible for production work according to specifications and established policies, procedures, practices, and standards.


  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and DOIs
  • Assemble components
  • Perform bar sealing/tray sealing duties
  • May operate packaging machine
  • Box products and apply labeling materials
  • Perform pad printing duties
  • Assemble and inspect components with tight tolerances and complex miniature geometry
  • Operate laser and resistance welding equipment
  • Inspect and assemble components under magnification
  • Perform equipment-intensive assembly processes; make adjustments if required and authorized by procedures
  • Follow all safety procedures as required by internal and external guidelines and policies
  • Maintain and follows 5s principles in all work areas at all times
  • Participate in Rapid Improvement Events
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • One year of work experience
  • Advanced dexterity required to work with very small/miniature components and equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow specification sheets
  • Retain complex assembly process instructions once taught, without frequent retraining
  • Basic mathematical skills to understand tolerance and variation
  • Ability to use measuring devices and hand tools
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic understanding of hand tools (Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and organized
  • Ability to clearly communicate concerns or issues to support staff verbally and in writing
  • Strong communication skills with Production Supervisor/Team Leader
  • Positive attitude


  • High school diploma or GED


  • Frequent bending/ lifting, twisting, standing and significant use of hands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including:
    • Protective eyewear
    • Ear plugs
    • Hair net
    • Protective gowning (lab coat, hood, shoe covers)


  • Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as:
    • Preparing and analyzing data and figures
    • Transcribing
    • Viewing a computer screen
    • Extensive reading
    • Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operating machines
    • Using measurement devices
    • Assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes


Some of the Production Operator’s responsibilities and duties are performed on the production floor and/or in the warehouse of a manufacturing plant that can be hot in summer, cold in winter, hazardous, noisy, and dusty. The worker may be subject to:

  • Inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change
  • Noise: Sufficient noise to cause a worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise
  • Vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body
  • Hazards: A variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
