In-Process Inspector

DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for in-process and final visual inspection of parts. This position works on the production floor collecting samples and performing visual inspections. This is a highly responsible position requiring attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision. This position requires the use and understanding of specialized quality inspection tools and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect samples from each machine at scheduled intervals
  • Perform the necessary visual quality/statistical process control (SPC) testing procedures on samples
  • Use tools, gauges, and other inspection equipment to obtain product specification data
  • Accurately record information consistent with department format
  • Communicate with Machine Technicians, Operators, and Production Supervisors to ensure a consistent, quality product
  • Follow all departmental procedures for routine daily assignments (eg, maintain neat and orderly work stations)
  • Inspect and document in-bound raw materials for conformance
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Inspection experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Capable of differentiating between colors and shades of color
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC), acceptable quality limit (AQL), and sampling plans
  • Familiarity with injection molding
  • Basic computer skills preferred

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for a candidate who can demonstrate the combination of experience, training, and education to fulfill all duties and responsibilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects

VISUAL ACUITY

  • Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as:
    • Preparing and analyzing data and figures
    • Transcribing
    • Viewing a computer screen
    • Extensive reading
    • Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operating machines
    • Using measurement devices
    • Assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes

CONDITIONS

  • Worker is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work)
